I established Glen Titmus Violins in 1995 to provide good second-hand instruments at affordable prices. It is a one-man operation. I do all the repairs and set-ups, buy all the instruments and bows, handle all the selling and delivery. Because of this I can keep overheads down and offer instruments at lower prices than most dealers. I now specialise in bows and bow repairs, and make bows for all violin family instruments, and others such as nyckelharpa.
Previously established in Taunton and then Leek, from January 17th 2022 I have moved my operation to Paignton, Devon, where I am available at my workshop (by appointment please) during normal working hours and beyond. Please phone or email for an appointment.
I also operate a travelling workshop for events and festivals, carrying out minor repairs, bow rehairing, etc. and giving advice as requested. I can give workshops on violin and bow maintenance if required. The events vary from year to year and any forthcoming events will be listed under Festivals
- I offer a full repair service on all violin family instruments and bows. Prices for rehairing bows are listed under Repairs.
- I am happy to give written quotations.
- I charge £40.00 per hour for labour, and any fittings as per my price list.
- I also can provide written insurance valuations, at a flat fee of £15.00 for straight forward valuations.
- For something really unusual, which needs considerable research to provide a realistic valuation there can be an extra charge of up to £40.00 for the time, but that is the maximum.
